I am excited and pleased to announce the inclusion of the new Media & Film Analysis elective course at Nightingale Middle School!

Course Objectives: This is a course designed to introduce and help students in grades 6–8 develop literacy in moving images.

The arts have been recognized by Congress for the first time as a fundamental academic subject. Film is a uniquely collaborative art form. Establishing national standards for film study provides an outline of what children should know and be able to accomplish (TCM).

By the end of the course, students can expect to be familiar with the basic language of film analysis, film making, and composition.
